You know it's a new world when even farmers markets are trying to go digital.A new smartphone app making its debut at a number of central Ohio farmers markets this summer allows users to orders goods from the markets and have them delivered.
The app, called Allofeed, offers users the chance to buy products from a combined 60 local vendors at seven area farmers markets: the Clintonville Farmers' Market, Easton Farmers Market, Grandview Avenue Farmers Market, Nationwide Pearl Alley Growers Farmers Market, North Market Farmers' Market, Pearl Market and Upper Arlington Farmers Market.
The purpose for the technology is twofold, said the app's creator, Victor Strausbaugh of Upper Arlington. Not only can it provide access to local produce and other products for those who can't attend the markets, but it can also offer a sneak peek at what's on sale so those intending to shop in person can plan ahead.
