“It's wonderful to know the market is doing its part to make fresh, healthy, local food available to the most people possible. Incorporating SNAP, and then the Veggie SNAPS incentive more recently, has brought in new shoppers, thereby increasing sales for our producers, as well as made the market more inclusive.” - Michelle White, Clintonville Farmers' Market Manager
How can SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and Incentives can benefit your farmers’ market? Join Veggie SNAPS as we present a SNAP Authorization Workshop on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
Come learn how SNAP works at farmers’ markets and how markets and growers can benefit from new customers. We will also share how Veggie SNAPS and other incentive programs address food security, local economic stability, and nutrition. Then, interested market managers can meet with USDA FNS (US Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service) officers to enroll onsite.
The workshop will be held from 12-3 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at The Shops at Worthington Place, 7227 N High St, Worthington, OH 43085, following the winter Worthington Farmers’ Market. Lunch will be provided and prepared managers can walk away authorized to accept SNAP at your market!
RSVP for this free workshop by November 14, 2016 by responding to this message or reaching Rachel Tayse, Veggie SNAPS program assistant, at email@example.com or 6
